Since they began in 1994, PCI-Media Impact's Soap Summits have
earned a solid reputation among entertainment and health professionals. Soap
Summits provide the writers, producers, and executives responsible
for content of the ten daily network soap operas with a forum for information
and creative discussion on current social and health issues.
Our summits have covered many health and social topics
over the last ten years including: assisted fertility, death and dying,
diabetes, diversity, population, minority issues, sexually transmitted
diseases, teenage sexuality, teenage suicide, teenage tobacco use, and
violence against women.
More recently these summits have brought together
media professionals – actors, producers and writers – to
meet with health professional, international development specialists
and philanthropists on a variety of topics. The aim of our recent
gatherings has been to bring a heighten awareness of the importance
and power media and the creative community play in shaping attitudes
and behavior in this country.
