Project Objective:
Using our Entertainment – Education (EE) methodology that harnesses the power of radio, PCI-Media Impact produces this program to increase health awareness in regards to issues dealing with sexual/ reproductive rights, teenage pregnancy prevention and STD/HIV/AIDS transmission.
Sexual and Reproductive Health Overview: Guatemala
about 80% of Guatemala's population of 13 million lives in poverty. At the same time, lack of access to birth control methods contributes to a high birth rate.
51% of youth population (ages 10-19) lives in rural areas.
This makes Guatemala second only to China as the source of babies adopted.
92% of women who had their first sexual experience between the ages of 15-19, did not use any STD, HIV or pregnancy prevention measure
23% of women had their first sexual experience between the ages of 15-19.
69% of women had their first sexual experience between the ages of 20-24.
92% did not use any STD, HIV or pregnancy prevention measure during their first

“At first I listened to the radio program with my headphones on. I didn’t want my parents to find out I was listening to a sex program. One day my mother came into my room and asked me what I was listening to. I gave her my headphones and we listened together. Since then every Friday we listen to the program. Now we talk about other than me having my period.”
