Woman by Woman Wins
Freddie Awards
The FREDDIE Awards are bestowed
annually on outstanding videos, films, web sites, and other
media products highlighting health and medical issues. In
the 2002 Women’s Health category, the FREDDIE Award
went to Woman by Woman: New Hope for the Villages of India,
a film by Dorothy Fadiman documenting the family planning
and community leadership work of Janani, one of PCI’s
partners in India. Woman by Woman shows that Janani’s
work empowering rural Indian women through education, health
and medical services, and enhanced community leadership roles
not only helps the women and their families, but also raises
levels of overall community health. David Andrews, on behalf
of PCI as executive producer of the film, accepted the award
at the November 8 awards ceremony in New York City.
