A Conversation with
Dr. Kimani Njogu
“To make an impact on communities,
we must be humble. Our programs engage communities in dialogue.
Initial research to set priorities is absolutely critical.
We try to prioritize the girl child and women. Of course we
must also factor in men and their overwhelming power. But
using subtlety is crucial.”
So said Kimani Njogu, PCI’s regional
representative for Africa, who addressed a group of PCI supporters,
board members, and representatives of other organizations
in March at PCI’s New York headquarters. Dr. Njogu led
a conversation on how innovative media strategies can address
global health and social challenges.
“The focus should be on giving life
to people. How do you impart a sense of security to an orphan?
Or to a woman whose husband is acting promiscuously? We need
to put the emphasis on life, not death, to give people hope.
PCI programs promote a positive affirmation of life.”
