International Reporting and Media Summit
New York City, May 15, 2009

PCI-Media Impact, as a member of Interaction, participated in the International Reporting and Media Summit in New York City on May 15, 2009. Executive Director, Michael Castlen, moderated a well attended afternoon session, on Entertainment Education. He was also a member of the Summit's advisory committee.

The interactive session brought Deborah Jones, Executive Producer, Common Ground Productions and Neil Ford, Chief, Media and Communications Branch, UNFPA into a discussion about the challenges and opportunities provided by an entertainment education methodology.

The all day Summit brought together a multi-disciplinary group of internationally recognized national & international journalists, media educators, development and humanitarian practitioners, donors, and media decision makers engaged in international development, foreign policy and international reporting. The event's keynote speaker was Ann Curry, News Anchor for NBC's Today and Anchor for Dateline NBC.

Other participants in the Summit included (not complete list): Fred Guterl of Newsweek International, Solana Larsen of Global Voices Online, Charles Sennott of GlobalPost, Scott Malcomson of New York Times Magazine, and Femi Oke, of The Takeaway on WNYC.
